Getting Involved

There are so many ways we can all make a difference to the decisions made about transport in the Marrickville area and beyond!

Join MTAG
Joining MTAG is one way that you can be involved. MTAG members are kept informed of transport issues and can connect up with other members of the community who are interested in making Marrickville a better place to live and move around in! Check out our forums and blogs to get a better view of who we are and what we do.

Make an appointment with your local member of parliament
If you're not a 'joiner' but would still like to get involved, there are plenty of ways to do it. Visiting your local member is one of the most important ways that you can get your views heard. They can only do what's best for us if we tell them what that is! In NSW Parliament we need to be asking for more money to be spent on public transport and moving as much freight as possible on to rail. In Federal Parliament we need to be asking that the government follow the lead of most developed countries in providing funds to reduce congestion in major cities through public transport initiatives.

If you live in the Marrickville area your local members are:

Carmel Tebbutt
(Member for Marrickville in NSW Parliament)

Ring or chat up your local government representatives
Talking to your ward representative, or even directly to the mayor is also important! Tell them you support more public transport and initiatives that will mean less cars on the roads. You can find out who your ward representative is (and how to contact them) by going to Marrickville Council's website.

Do you have some great ideas for how people can get involved?
Come along to our next meeting and tell us about them! See our contact page for details.
